ABOUT

Michael is a director of photography based in Sydney, Australia.

An early interest in painting, art and film led Michael to eventually pursue work in the film industry in 1997, first as a Clapper Loader, then as a Focus Puller. During this time, Michael had the opportunity to work on over twenty feature films including The Matrix, Garage Days, The Worlds Fastest Indian, numerous short films, documentaries, music videos and over 150 TV commercials. In 2006, Michael began work as a Camera Operator on various short films, TVC’s and music videos. In 2010, Michael graduated with a Diploma in Cinematography from the Australian Film Television and Radio School and has since been a cinematographer on a variety of long form TV dramas, feature films, documentary’s and commercials.

In late 2018, Michael had the opportunity to work with up-and-coming film maker, Eugene Alberts, on sci-fi thriller ‘Atlas’ (currently in post-production), which depicts one man’s struggle for autonomy in a future dystopia. ’The Complex’ was also filmed in late 2018, with long-time collaborator and director Dane McCusker. This short film explores the complexities around our current acceptable standards of behaviour between men and women.

Currently I am filming a new TV series Called ‘The Gamers’ for Ambience Entertainment. The show follows 3 teens as they battle a dangerous A.I. game that absorbs participants who fail to win challenges.
